As another unforgettable tango escape ended, me and my husband find ourselves reflecting on the warmth of Argentina’s summer as we are again in Slovenia’s winter chill. This year’s tango adventure in Buenos Aires was, as always, filled with rhythm, friendships, and memories we’ll cherish.
Tango in numbers
- 35 milongas attended in 34 days (ending with two milongas on the final Sunday, culminating in the early hours at Horacio Godoy’s La Viruta).
- 4 new pairs of tango shoes (three for her, one for him).
- 1 movie screening on our last day: Chau Buenos Aires — a perfectly titled farewell film.
New Milongas and Afternoon Delights
This year, we explored many new milongas, including some delightful afternoon milongas at El Beso Tango Club. The charm of Buenos Aires’ tango scene never fails to surprise, offering a perfect blend of tradition and discovery. We also had the pleasure of listening to some of the best Buenos Aires DJs, whose musical selections kept us inspired and dancing into the night.
Milonga Parakultural: A DJ Night to Remember
I had the honor of DJ-ing at Milonga Parakultural in the legendary Salon Marabú. Thank you, dear Horacio Gabin, for trusting me once again with your DJ booth. The night was made even more special with dancers Cristina Sosa and Daniel Nacucchio and the live sounds of Tango 64, a tribute to the style of Julio Sosa. Looking forward to next year already!
Familiar Faces and Tango Friends
This trip was filled with wonderful reunions and cherished moments. I caught up with my dear friends and orchestra members of La Juan D’Arienzo Facundo Lazzari and Ricardo Badaracco, always a joy to chat with. We also had the pleasure of talking to the tango legends Coca Cartery and Chiqui almost every night – they continue to light up the dance floor with their energy and passion. These encounters always make our time in Buenos Aires even more special.
A Memorable Last Night at La Viruta
We ended our final night at the famous La Viruta tango club, where we caught up with Horacio Godoy. It was a special reunion, as Horacio had danced at my milonga in Ljubljana this past October. A fitting conclusion to an incredible trip!
Until next year
Buenos Aires, you’ve given us another month of dance, laughter, and new memories. Chau Buenos Aires — we can’t wait to see you again next year!
