At La Milonguita Ljubljana, we are starting Tango UP-CYCLE, a small and practical initiative that connects tango, clothing reuse, and thoughtful re-design.
Many tango clothes are no longer worn, yet they are still in good condition and carry a history of dance, and Tango UP-CYCLE creates a space where these garments can continue their journey by being exchanged, re-used, or transformed into something new. You are invited to bring tango clothes you no longer wear, exchange them with others, or have them re-designed into a new, wearable form.
Starting in February 2026, Tango UP-CYCLE will take place at every La Milonguita Ljubljana, beginning one hour before the milonga to allow enough time for exchange and consultation, and continuing until the end of the milonga, at Studio Moj korak.
One half of the rack will be dedicated to clothing exchange, while the other half will present already re-designed, unique pieces by Dilight; the exchange follows a piece-for-piece principle, and participants may also bring their own re-designed garments for sale, provided they are clearly labeled with brand and price. During the event, it will be possible to place an order for a custom re-design, resulting in a unique piece created specifically for the wearer.
All of my own tango clothes are made by Urša from Dilight, so I can say from personal experience that this approach works very well, and that she is an exceptional artist with a strong sense for tango, movement, and individuality.
